Radio host Kristen Henry reveals she spent $987 to ‘propose’ to her BRIDESMAIDS

Asking your friends to be bridesmaids can become a proposal in itself.

Just ask Australian radio presenter Kristen Henry, who recently went to extreme lengths to ask her friends to be part of the bridal party in an elaborate invitation.

After seeing other brides-to-be surprise their friends on Instagram, the Mix 106.3 breakfast host said she wanted to create the ultimate memory for the girls.

Sharing her story via news.com.au, Kristen – who got engaged on her Greece holiday last October – revealed what happened when she did a ‘bridesmaids proposal’.

‘I stupidly fell for the online trend of proposing to your Bridesmaids. Good news is, I have an amazing photo for social. Can’t pay my mortgage this month, but you know, YOLO,’ she said.

Hoping to make the moment of popping the question more meaningful and creative, Kristen said she got personalised cards and organised huge foiled balloons in the shape of question marks for a ‘lunch’ with her friends at a Canberra restaurant.

‘You head out for a nice card, next thing you know your fiance is asking where that $987 in the savings account has mysteriously gone?’ she said.

Kristen and her fiance were joined by a table of nine, including her friends’ husbands and children, for lunch, which she was paying for.

‘I should have popped the question there and called it a day. Nope,’ Kristen continued.

‘Post lunch I whisked the nine away to a secret location, I reserved a table at the bar where my fiance and I first met.’

Spoiling her friends with a thoughtful invitation, Kristen organised the balloons in the shape of question marks to be brought out to the table by staff.

‘I’d written personalised letters, had a bottle of Moet brought to the table once they’d squealed and said “yes”,’ she recalled.

Despite going through extreme lengths to ‘propose’ to her bridesmaids, Kristen said she realised it was her friends’ reactions that ‘made the moment’ not the balloons.
