A 71-year-old security guard is suing the Los Angeles Rams after suffering ‘catastrophic brain injuries’ when he was allegedly knocked down a flight of stairs by brawling fans at SoFi Stadium during a game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

TMZ first reported the lawsuit, identifying the plaintiff as Robert Leahey, who now claims to be battling difficulty with speech and vision, while suffering from headaches.

Rams spokespeople did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

The alleged incident took place on December 8, 2002, during a Thursday Night Football game between the Rams and visiting Las Vegas Raiders.

Of course, the Raiders previously played in LA from 1982 until 1994, and still have a large fan base in southern California, which could explain why fights broke out before, during, and after the game, according to various reports.

The mele cited in the lawsuit allegedly began around 6:30pm local time and was described in the lawsuit as a ‘large fight’ between Rams and Raiders supporters.

Leahey claims he was attempting to keep the peace when he was pushed down a flight of stairs, hitting his head several times on the way down.

Exacerbating things, he claims, Leahy was then hit with a full can of Modelo beer ‘causing him further injury.’

Leahy was hospitalized and ‘diagnosed with severe and catastrophic brain injuries, including a subdural hematoma with brain bleeding,’ according to the filing.

Since the ordeal, Leahy claims he’s been dealing with headaches, while also struggling to speak and see.

He is suing the Rams for unspecified damages, according to TMZ.
