Jordan Addison told police officers that he was rushing home to take care of an emergency with his dog when he was pulled over going 140 miles per hour last week.

The rookie wide receiver was driving a 2021 Lamborghini Urus SUV at that rate of speed in a 55mph zone on Interstate 94 in St. Paul.

Addison, a first-round pick out of USC via Pittsburgh, released a statement on Friday apologizing for his reckless behavior.

‘Yesterday morning I made a mistake and used poor judgment, I recognize and own that. I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior. I am truly sorry,’ the statement read.

In the original statement filed with his citation, Addison’s reason for speeding was not included.

Instead, the reason was printed on his citation, which said, ‘Driver stated his dog was having an emergency at his residence, and that was the reason for his speed.’

Minnesota State Patrol officers cited Addison for reckless driving while ‘consciously disregarding a substantial or unjustifiable risk.’ His speed was 85mph higher than the posted limit.

In a statement issued last Thursday, the Vikings said, ‘We are aware of last night’s traffic incident involving Jordan Addison and are gathering additional information.’

Addison, the 23rd overall pick in the draft, hasn’t yet participated with his new team due to an undisclosed injury picked up during rookie minicamp.

Addison will be on a fully guaranteed four-year contract worth $13.7 million, that includes a $7 million signing bonus.
