Richard Bacon enjoyed a jet ski ride with his wife Rebecca McFarlane after jetting off on a summer getaway to Ibiza.

The former Blue Peter star, 47, went shirtless as he and his spouse sped along the water during their Spanish break.

Richard cut a relaxed figure as he and Rebecca headed down to the beach to baord the jet ski.

His wife donned a stylish leopard print swimsuit as she enjoyed the trip away with the presenter.

Richard previously admitted if he was caught on a cocaine binge now young people would ‘sympathise’ with him more than they did back in 1998.

He was sacked from his Blue Peter job in the nineties after a drug’s scandal and told my producers he would ‘never work again’.

However Richard, who has since found his way back to showbiz, confessed that he thinks the situation would be different had it of happened today.

Richard, said: ‘A producer on Blue Peter said to me, “you’ll never work again,” so it did feel like being ‘cancelled’.

‘Today, if I was 22 and took drugs at a party, I think I’d get some empathy and sympathy from young people.’

Richard’s fall from grace is an early example of ‘cancel culture’ – where social media has become a platform for public sharming due to old tweets.

He is arguably best qualified to present the new Channel 4 which will look at how many people have lost their careers over historic posts.

Richard, who insists the Twitter generation would have sympathised with his scandal, took a look back at his own tweets to find out if there was anything that would be deemed ‘cancel worthy’.

In recent years Richard has kickstarted his career comeback by hosting Good Morning Britain, following Piers Morgan’s exit in 2021.

Speaking during one appearance on the show, he said: ‘For me, I haven’t done this for a couple of years and I live in America now where I have a slightly silly job basically inventing game-shows and producing game shows, which is a strange thing to do in the world.

‘But to actually come back and do this, my first love is news and current affairs and to actually come back and talk about things that matter.’

Richard has plenty of experience of presenting morning television, having hosted Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast from 1999 to 2002.

His return to British TV came three years after he was placed in a medically-induced coma for 11 days, after being rushed to hospital with pneumonia.

He spent 11 nights in a medically-induced coma while battling the potentially fatal disease pneumonia in 2018, revealing that his body went blue at one stage and doctors expected him to die.

The presenter said that coming out of the coma was the worst day of his life because it took 14 hours and he kept hallucinating.

While presenting GMB in 2019, Bacon revealed how doctors gave him four minutes to inform family members and get his affairs in order before they would place him in a medically-induced coma.
