Richard Hannon set to offer highly-rated two-year-old Rosallion a shot at redemption on the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe undercard at Longchamp

Richard Hannon could give highly-rated two-year-old Rosallion a chance to redeem his reputation in Sunday’s Group One Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe undercard at Longchamp.

Hannon has made no secret of how highly he rates the son of Blue Point, who romped home at Ascot in July. 

But, after starting odds-on favourite, Rosallion lost his unbeaten record in Doncaster’s Champagne Stakes.

Rosallion had been expected to run next in Newmarket’s Dewhurst Stakes but Hannon said: ‘He’ll run if the ground is quick which it looks like it might be. They went slow early at Doncaster. 

‘He travelled well but when he was asked to quicken on the sticky ground, he was just wheel-spinning. 

‘It was very disappointing and I am very keen for the horse to show what he can do.’

Fifteen horses remain in the Arc, four of them from Britain: Bay Bridge, Hukum, Free Wind (Frankie Dettori’s last ride in the race) and Westover.

Aidan O’Brien will supplement St Leger winner Continuous to the line-up. He will be O’Brien’s only representative and continues to shorten in the betting with Paddy Power cutting him to 7-1.

The 5-2 favourite is Jean-Claude Rouget-trained unbeaten French Derby winner Ace Impact.
