Rising country star Joshua Ray Walker, 33, reveals cancer has spread to both his lungs

Country star Joshua Ray Walker has shared the heartbreaking update that his cancer has spread to both of his lungs.

Joshua, 33, who revealed last year that he’d been diagnosed with colon cancer, took to Instagram earlier this week to update fans with the unfortunate news that the disease had spread.

‘Hey y’all! Once again, I’ve got some good and bad news to deliver,’ the singer, from Dallas, Texas, began his caption.

‘The good news is that I’ve finished chemo treatment! It was extremely tough, and I want to thank y’all so much for supporting me through this experience.

Joshua Ray Walker took to Instagram to share the sad news that, despite successfully undergoing treatment for colon cancer, his doctors have discovered cancer in his lungs

‘My body handled it reasonably well, and I’ve begun to rebuild my strength and immune system!’

He continued to share that he had found out some bad news as well though, that the cancer had spread to his lungs.

‘The bad news is that upon the completion of tests to check on the status of my cancer post treatment, multiple nodes of varying sizes were found in both my lungs,’ he elaborated.

‘Before I started chemo, I was told I had a 90 per cent chance of having clear tests post treatment,’ he went on.

‘So to find completely new growth in a new organ was something for which I was not prepared.

‘This unfortunately means my cancer will likely be restaged to stage 4,’ Joshua shared.

‘I will get a lung biopsy, and start radiation soon. I wish I had more information to share but I’m still waiting to meet with a radiology oncologist following my biopsy surgery.

‘I will keep y’all as updated as possible, and I will continue to fight my hardest,’ he pledged.

'The odds have definitely shifted' since the discovery of cancer in his lungs, Joshua admitted

‘The odds have definitely shifted, but I’m not going to publish them here.

‘It seems defeatist, and unnecessary. I’ll let you know what they were after I beat them. I’ve always lived life to the fullest and I will continue to do so,’ he declared.

He went on to admit that the astronomical costs of the treatment have left him struggling financially.

‘When times are hard my instinct is to figure out how to survive financially. I work harder to ensure that me and my loved ones will have basic necessities,’ he explained.

‘This trait has been very useful in life, but it makes it hard to rest when life’s difficulties aren’t solely monetary.

‘I have a hard time asking for help, even when I believe it will be given happily. I’m launching a GoFundMe that will allow me to focus exclusively on my health and relationships during this precious time.

‘I thank everyone so much in advance for their continued love and support. Love y’all so much,’ the post concluded.

The singer is beloved for hits including Lot Lizard and Sexy After Dark. He has also previously opened for The Killers and toured around the country.

It was back in December 2023 that Joshua was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Since then, he has had ‘extensive surgery’ as well as six months of chemotherapy on top of a battery of tests, procedures and doctors visits.

As of September 11, his GoFundMe has raised nearly $67,000 from 932 donors.

Colon cancer has become something of an epidemic among people under 50 years old, with rates skyrocketing since the new millennium, as DailyMail.com has previously reported.
