Robbie Williams joins the Metaverse! Singer is set to perform a virtual worldwide show to celebrate 25 years as a solo artist

Robbie Williams has never been one to shy away from a creative performance.

And now he’s taken things one step further, teaming up with a high-tech virtual world, LightCycle in a bid to reach as many fans as possible.

The singer, 49, will perform his 25th-anniversary show on the Metaverse platform, so fans from all over the world can join in and watch the immersive 3D virtual concert.

Talking about the futuristic performance Robbie said: ‘Staying connected with my fans has always been important to me.

‘I’m fascinated by the Web3 space – it’s full of creativity and mind-blowing potential. It’s also a big new market for music discovery.

‘As an artist, I’m always looking for ways to push forward so this is the perfect next step in that journey.

‘The talented development team at LightCycle have produced some incredible work and I’m excited to see it all brought to life in full 3D glory.’

Set to launch towards the end of the year, LightCycle is described as an AI-powered ‘hyper-realistic virtual city’ with the aim to become ‘the go-to destination for art, film, gaming, music, fashion, sport, property and retail’.

This is not the first time Robbie Williams has been involved with an Artificial Intelligence related project.

Last year, he partnered with German-based telecommunictions company Deutsche Telekom to create a new version of his 1997 hit Angels.

The song borrows moments from Beethoven’s unfinished tenth symphony, which was produced by an AI team at Bonn’s Beethoven-Haus research centre.

Robbie’s original version has been streamed over 450 million times on Spotify.

It comes after Australian comedian, Wendy Harmer revealed how the musician once apologised to her in the sweetest way.

Talking on The Project she said she once did a phone interview with him, but because of the time difference, he was a little worse for wear and the exchange was unusable.

‘He was completely off his face. He was like, ‘Wendddyyy! Helloooo!” she recounted.

‘[The interview] was completely unusable, the whole thing. But I still adored him.’

The comedian added that Robbie felt so bad about his state on the phone, he sent her a giant bouquet of flowers with an apology card to make up for it.
