Robert Irwin’s candid admission about how his wildlife photography work has connected him to his father: ‘I wanted to be exactly like dad’

Robert Irwin has shared how pursuing his twin passions in life has forged a meaningful connection to his dad, the late Steve Irwin.

The new co-host of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! opened up to The Courier Mail on Monday about how pursuing wildlife photography connects him to his father.

Steve Irwin passed away in 2006 after a stingray speared him through the heart, when Robert was just two years old.

Last year, Robert received critical acclaim for his debut photography book, ‘Robert Irwin’s Australia.’

‘You know, all my life all I’ve ever wanted was to be exactly like Dad, but also to find my own place in his world,’ the teenager began.

Robert also claimed his photography played a pivotal role in carrying on his father’s legacy of wildlife protection.

‘This is one of my ways of continuing his work,’ he added.

It comes as Robert and his girlfriend Rorie Buckey exuded style and sophistication last week when they posed for the cameras at the Earthshot Prize conservation awards in Singapore.

The wildlife warrior traded in his trademark khakis for a dapper black suit and tie which he paired with a crisp white dress shirt.

Irwin’s blonde hair was freshly styled and he could not wipe the smile off his face as he posed up a storm alongside his beautiful girlfriend.

Robert looked absolutely smitten by his beautiful date and kept an arm wrapped around her waist as they made their way across the green carpet.

Meanwhile, Rorie, 19, turned heads in an elegant figure-hugging frilled floral gown which showcased her stunning curves.

She accessorised with a designer handbag and allowed her luscious blonde hair to hang in loose waves around her shoulders.

The lovebirds stayed close to each other as they made their grand entrance at the exclusive event and rocked their best angles for the cameras.
