Rod Stewart has admitted he is ‘more romantic’ than wife Penny Lancaster.
The famous crooner, 78, also spoke of his time apart from his wife, 52, as he revealed their marriage secrets.
Rod detailed how the loved-up couple don’t see each other for the majority of the day, even when ‘within the perimeters’ of their Essex mansion.
He also admitted that they enjoy quality time together each morning by having a cup of tea in bed together after waking up, before going their separate ways.
The passionate star also revealed how he ensured they have a formal, candlelit dinner together each evening, which is something he is especially fond of.

Rod told The Mirror: ‘I’m definitely more romantic than she [Penny] is. I dress up every night for a formal dinner together. I absolutely love it. I love lighting all the candles.’
The music icon also admitted that having ‘busy, independent schedules’ helps their marriage, explaining: ‘We often joke about the fact that we can both be in this large house in Essex and not see each other.
‘We stay within the perimeters of the house but we don’t see each other until the evening.
‘We wake up, have a cup of tea in bed together, and then she goes her way and I go mine. It’s lovely, we are not on top of each other all the time. We’re very fortunate in that position.’
The superstar singer revealed in 2021 that he dedicated two tracks from his Touchline album – I Can’t Imagine and Precious Memories – to his wife Penny.
Rod and third wife Penny wed in 2007 in La Cervara, Italy, in an intimate ceremony.
The couple share sons Alastair and Aiden, while Rod has six other children from his previous relationships.

He shares children Kimberly Stewart and Sean Stewart with first wife Alana. They were married for five years from 1979 until 1984.
In addition, Rob has daughter Renee Stewart and son Liam Stewart with his second wife Rachel Hunter, to whom he was married from 1990 until 1999 before eventually divorcing in 2006.
The rock star is also father to Ruby Stewart, from a relationship with model Kelly Emberg, who he dated from 1983-1990.
Rod’s first child – Sarah Streeter from his romance with then-art student Susannah Boffey – was given up for adoption after he fathered her at age 18.
