Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia team up for fourballs on day two of Ryder Cup – as Team US stick with Tiger Woods and Patrick Reed pairing

Rory McIlroy has been paired with Sergio Garcia for the opening fourballs match on day two of the Ryder Cup on Saturday.

Team Europe captain Thomas Bjorn selected the powerful partnership after watching his side pull of a remarkable comeback at Le Golf National to take a 5-3 lead into Saturday.

Bjorn will hope McIlroy and Garcia can pick up where Team Europe left off on Friday to heap the pressure on Team US with the pair kicking things off at 7.10am against Brooks Koepka and Tony Finau.

Englishmen Paul Casey and Tyrrell Hatton also come in for the Europeans, while  Tommy Fleetwood and Francesco Molinari are the only pair to remain the same from the morning and afternoon matches for Europe after a successful day on Friday.

FOURBALLS MATCHES 

McIlroy/Garcia v Koepka/Finau (7.10am)

Hatton/Casey v Johnson/Fowler (7.25am)

Molinari/Fleetwood v Woods/Reed (7.40am)

Poulter/Rahm v Thomas/Spieth (7.55am) 

The duo will be up against Tiger Woods and Patrick Reed, who Team US captain Jim Furyk has decided to pair up again despite them being the only American partnership to lose the fourballs on day one.

English duo Casey and Hatton are up against Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler in the second match of the morning at 7.25am.

US captain Furyk has also decided to sit Bubba Watson out of the fourballs event after the American endured a difficult day in Paris.

Ian Poulter has again been drafted in for Europe after playing well with McIlroy on Friday and will pair up with world No 8 Jon Rahm to take on Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth in the final fourballs match of the morning.
