Sales flushed away at Pimlico Plumbers

Pimlico Plumbers saw its sales tumble last year as rival firms ramped up their business following the pandemic.

Its revenue fell 11 per cent to £45 million – on a pro-rata basis as it changed its accounting period – according to documents filed at Companies House for Pimlico Plumbers Limited.

It said the fall came as ‘competition returned to the market’.

Pimlico Plumbers was set up in 1979 by the flamboyant Charlie Mullins, who left school at 15 with no qualifications and began work as a plumber.

The London-based firm has around 200 staff and a star-studded roster of celebrity clients, which includes James Bond actor Daniel Craig, Dame Helen Mirren and guitarist Eric Clapton.

In 2022, profits soared to £73.5 million, but this was almost entirely due to the near-£74 million sale of intellectual property to another Pimlico Plumbers company.
