Sarah Lancashire has been seen on the Happy Valley set with a very bruised face in scenes involving a police raid.
The actress, 57, has reprised her role as Sergeant Catherine Cawood in BBC crime drama, and was seen sporting her character’s fluorescent police officer’s uniform, as well as the fake mark on her face.
Filming for the long-awaited third and final series got underway earlier this year following a six-year hiatus and is certain to be the most thrilling yet.

Pictures also showed the TV favourite catching up with crew members while filming in Yorkshire.
Despite the dark tone of the series, Sarah was seen laughing and joking during a well deserved break from her hectic recording schedule.
The star also got stuck into character as she was seen carrying some police tape and a clipboard as she made her way around the staged location.

Six new episodes of the BAFTA-winning crime drama show will also see the return of James Norton as murderer and sex offender Tommy Lee Royce.
The final season will follow Catherine as she investigates a gangland murder that leads her back to Tommy, and her struggle to end the drug supply in the valley.
Sarah’s character is also on the cusp of retirement and the show will explore her relationship with grandson Ryan, who is now 16.

James said of reprising his role as Tommy: ‘To take on Tommy one final time is a wonderful and daunting privilege, and something I’ve been looking forward to since we wrapped the last series, six years ago.
Sarah added: ‘It’s time to let the dog see the rabbit.’

Charlie, who plays Ann Gallagher in the popular TV show, also revealed that audiences can expect series three to ‘probably’ air sometime in 2022.
Happy Valley was a big hit with audiences after first airing in 2014, winning a BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series, with a follow-up second series in 2016.
When asked what date it would be expected to air, Charlie replied: ‘Timeline-wise, probably [2022].’
