SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton teases a guest appearance on Home and Away: ‘I’ve been watching it since I was kid’

He’s famous as the tough as nails instructor on SAS Australia.

And now English-born Ant Middleton, 46, has revealed that he wants to test out his acting skills with a role on Channel Seven’s long-running soap Home and Away.

The former special forces soldier made the surprising confession during an interview on the TV Reload podcast earlier this month.

‘I’m a big fan of Home and Away,’ Ant admitted, telling host Benjamin Norris that he had been watching the soap since he ‘was a kid’.

‘I would be honoured to do a part in Home and Away,’ he said, adding: ‘Never say never right?’

Ant, who is best known for his brutal training technique on SAS Australia, also talked about his new role as host of Million Dollar Island.

Created by the team behind Wife Swap and Big Brother, the reality series sees 100 contestants compete for $1million in a survival game set on a remote island. 

And Ant said the new show has brought out his ‘softer’ side, in which helps to guide the contestants in survival techniques so they survive the competitions gruelling  conditions.

‘Who you see of me on Million Dollar is the majority of me,’ he said.

‘It’s who I really am. I’m a family man, I love helping people, I love getting the best out of people,’ he continued.

‘On Million Dollar Island you get to see the real me more than you do on SAS.’

Meanwhile, Ant previewed the upcoming season of SAS Australia when he appeared on Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa with Katie Richie earlier this week.

The SAS host said: ‘It is brutal, there are some very interesting characters on this one, more so the psychological side of how people work.

‘There is some real psychological undoings and rebuildings,’ he continued. 

‘A couple of people wanted to quit quite early and I said “No, I’m not done with you.”‘

While some contestants of the upcoming season have been released, Channel 7 have not confirmed an air date, but it is expected to be in September or October.

The 2023 series will see boxer Anthony Mundine, former Roosters captain Boyd Cordner and Olympian Peter Bol star, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
