School bus driver who took wrong ramp onto highway made U-turn in the middle of oncoming traffic

A driver from Oregon caught a school bus driver making a U-turn on the on-ramp to the interstate, causing the vehicle to go against the flow of traffic.

A Roseburg resident who was travelling behind the bus managed to capture the bizarre moment on camera. 

Roseburg Public Schools Interim Superintendent Lee Paterson said he is aware of the video and is not happy about the incident, but he said First Student, whom the bus was operated by, is handling the investigation. 

The bus was being driven for Roseburg Public School’s in Oregon and had a child on board 

First Student is a company contracted by Roseburg Public Schools to handle transportation needs of the district.

‘The driver is a long-term employee and has a strong driving record,’ according to a First Student spokesperson. ‘Certainly it was a mistake and the driver has been disciplined and is certainly undergoing retraining right now.’ 

Schools Superintendent Lee Paterson said one student was aboard the bus at the time according to KEZI.

The video was taken by another driver who was following the vehicle

Roseburg Public Schools released a statement that read, ‘Roseburg Public Schools takes the safety of students very seriously and feels confident that First Student will work to ensure this type of incident does not happen again.’         

 ‘Apparently the maneuver is still under investigation. There was one child on the bus. The bus company didn’t even contact the parents. After the mom saw it on social media and she had to call the bus company and find out what was going on. As of right now, there is no explanation for the driver’s actions.’

The bus ended up driving past on-coming traffic which were trying to get onto the interstate
