Seven mortar bombs fell inside Iraq’s Balad air base, which houses U.S. forces, on Sunday.

Four Iraqi soldiers were wounded in the attack, two military sources told Reuters. It is not known how many US troops are stationed there currently. 

The military sources said the mortar bombs fell on a runway inside the base, which is located 50 miles north of Baghdad.

A rocket landed near a military base on Thursday. That missile was launched in the Fadhlan area of the Dujail district in Iraq’s northern Salahuddin province, Iraqi police sources said.

Iranian forces have already fired a series of rockets at two US airbases in Iraq in retaliation for the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani near Baghdad airport last week. 

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired 22 ballistic missiles at the al-Asad airbase and Erbil in the early hours of Wednesday, but failed to kill a single US or Iraqi solider.
