She said yes to the dress! Golden Bachelor bride Theresa Nist, 70, dons her ivory wedding gown – just hours before she ties the knot with Gerry Turner in a romantic sunset ceremony

Golden Bachelor bride Theresa Nist was spotted in her ivory wedding gown on Thursday afternoon, hours before tying the knot with Gerry Turner.

Nist, who was also wearing a veil, teamed the gown with a pair of simple pale gold satin sandals and clutched a huge bouquet of apricot roses.

Turner, 72, was nowhere to be seen but has said he will be wearing a sharp tuxedo to exchange vows with Nist under a blush-pink rose arch later this evening.

Preparations for the ceremony were underway at the La Quinta Resort and Club in La Quinta, California, all day.

Workmen were seen putting the finishing touches on the rose arch early this morning.

Meanwhile, rows of cream cushioned chairs were laid out ready for the guests, among them multiple members of the Golden Bachelor cast.

The al-fresco ceremony, which began at 5pm PST, was lit by large church candles, each on its own black cast-iron stand.

Behind a rose arch constructed from blush pink and cream blooms, the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains were seen towering over the $300-a-night Coachella Valley hotel.

After the ceremony, guests were treated to a choice of two wedding cakes — a vanilla, chocolate and cappuccino confection picked by Turner and a lemon and raspberry number chosen by Nist.

Turner and Nist’s wedding is the first from the Golden Bachelor franchise – itself a spinoff from ABC’s Bachelor and Bachelorette series.

Like other shows in the series, the Golden Bachelor hasn’t been without controversy after Indiana ‘retired restaurateur’ Turner was revealed to be a hot tub maintenance man who sold his last restaurant – a hamburger joint named Mr Quick – in 1985.

And despite claiming to have been single since his wife of 43-years Toni died unexpectedly in 2017, Turner has, in fact, dated multiple women since her death – even dumping one ex-girlfriend in January 2020 after she allegedly gained weight.

Even his romance with Nist hasn’t gone entirely according to plan, with a blubbering Turner almost handing the rose to runner-up Leslie Fhima.

In the finale, aired on November 30, Turner spent one night each with Nist and Fhima – separately telling each woman she was ‘the one.’

After finally plumping for Nist and presenting her with a 3.5 carat princess cut diamond ring from Neil Lane, a sobbing Turner said of Fhima: ‘The only time I’ve felt this bad in my life is when my wife died and this comes a goddamn close second.’

He added: ‘I took a really good person and broke her heart.’
