Shocking moment off-duty Connecticut cop PUNCHES motorist who honked at him for not turning right on a red light – and gets off with just five days without pay

An off-duty Connecticut police officer was punished with a five day suspension after he was caught on camera punching a driver who honked at him for not turning at a red light.

Meriden police officer Corporal Allen Ganter was stopped at a red light at the intersection of France Street and Cromwell Avenue in Rocky Hill in December, reported NBC Connecticut.

Thomas Brocuglio pulled up behind Ganter at the intersection and honked at him for not making the right turn.

Brocuglio’s dashboard camera footage captured Ganter getting out of his truck and confronting him.

The off-duty cop lunged toward Brocuglio, punched him in the face and said, ‘F******g a*****e. Who do you think you are f*****g with? Do you want to get arrested?’

Brocuglio replied, ‘You are going to get arrested for assaulting a civilian.’

When Brocuglio pulled up to the light he honked his horn before sticking up his middle finger at Ganter and said, ‘What are we doing? What are you doing? Waiting all f*****g day.’

Ganter got out of his truck, flashed his badge and said, ‘You can’t take a right on red you a*****e.’

‘Really? Where does it say that? It says “stop here on red,”‘ Brocuglio replied.

The driver then accused Ganter of being on his phone and the off-duty officer took pictures of Brocuglio’s license plate.

Ganter threatened to give him a ticket and to call his supervisor when Brocuglio asked for his badge number.

That is when Ganter threw a punch and Brocuglio said, ‘You are going to get arrested for assaulting a civilian.’

Brocuglio called 911 and said, ‘I was just assaulted by a police officer. He punched me in the face through my window.’

Rocky Hill Police contacted Ganter and body camera footage obtained by FOX61 showed he asked officers if he could press charges against Brocuglio.

‘Is he pressing charges against me like for breach because I yelled at him and stuff?’ said Ganter.

The Rocky Hill officer explained he was pressing charges for assault and that he had the attack on video.

‘There’s nothing where I can press for breach for him yelling at me whatever it is?’ said Ganter.

He then admitted to hitting Brocuglio and said, ‘My fault, I’m wrong, I shouldn’t have.’

Ganter, who was a resource officer at Thomas Edison Middle School, was charged with breach of peace and 3rd degree assault.

Meriden police conducted an internal affairs investigation and found that he did violate the department’s rules of conduct.
