  • Brown would become first brit in a century to compete in two sports at Olympics

Olympic bronze medallist skateboarder Sky Brown is attempting to qualify for both skateboarding and surfing at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Brown, 15, would be the first British athlete in over 100 years to achieve the feat but would have to travel 10,000 miles in two days between the venues if she does.

The surfing event is set to be held in Tahiti between 27 July – 4 August, while skateboarding will be held on 6 August at La Concorde’s Urban Park in Paris.

At just age 13, Brown became the youngest Team GB athlete ever to win an Olympic medal when at the Tokyo 2020 Games, she won park bronze.

However, she is yet to qualify for either sport she is aiming for and is set to compete at the World Surfing Games in Puerto Rico between 24 February and 3 March.

The Olympic medallist has always been a keen surfer and already had plans in her mind, stretching back to Tokyo in 2021, to compete in the event in Paris.

In January, Brown finished 17th in the World Junior Championships in California, United States.

However, she will need to step it up a gear if she is going to qualify for the Olympics this summer. To ensure grabs her spot, Brown has to finish in the top 16, or reach heat eight, in her ISA World Surfing Games debut.

She also is yet to officially qualify in the skateboarding as she needs to be ranked in the world top 20 in June, to do so.

However, that should not be a struggle as Brown is currently ranked number three in the world.

The British star skateboarder has been lighting up the sport for the past few years, winning gold at the 2023 World Championships in Sharjah at the age of 14.

Born in Miyazaki, Japan, Brown elected to compete under the Great British flag in 2018 as she has a British father.

If her success in her number one sport is anything to go by, then surfing athletes around the world may be looking over there shoulder.
