Skye Wheatley reveals she suffered from postpartum depression ‘badly’ after giving birth to her two sons

Influencer Skye Wheatley has opened up about her mental health following the birth of her two young sons.

The 30-year-old has confessed to suffering ‘bad’ postpartum depression following the birth of Forest, five and Bear, three.

Skye made the revelation on Instagram on Wednesday after a fan asked her about whether she suffered from depression after having her sons.

‘Did you get PPD after your babies?’ the fan asked to which Skye responded: ‘Yes, badly.’

The former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here winner also included a recent photo of her two boys and partner Lachlan Waugh.

As many as one in five Australian women suffer symptoms of PPD after giving birth according to Health Direct.

The condition can include feelings of sadness, anxiety and intense fatigue that last for long periods.

This isn’t the first time Skye has spoken about her parenting journey as she often shares details about her life with followers.

In 2022, Skye shared her joy as a mother during an Instagram Q&A.

When a follower told her they were about to go into labour, Skye wished the fan good luck and admitted she enjoyed the birthing process.

‘I miss that. Like legit wanna do that every day! Love giving birth! Good luck, mumma,’ Skye wrote.

She previously shared her birthing stories on YouTube, and relied heavily on gas for the first birth. 

Shortly after the birth of her second son Bear in 2021 Skye spoke of how much she loves the ‘newborn baby bubble’.

‘Loving the newborn baby bubble and never want it to end… my hormones and emotions are insane,’ she wrote on Instagram.

‘It goes so fast and before you know it, they’re not your little babies anymore.’

The Gold Coast-based star rose to fame back on Big Brother Australia in 2014 and is now a full-time influencer with 668,000 followers.
