Snake on the loose after biting man at Queensland school

  • Paramedics were called to Heatley Secondary College at about 8am on Monday
  • Chapel Pest Control attended the school, but couldn’t locate the snake  
  • The man, 54, was transported to Townsville Hospital in a stable condition 

A man has been rushed to hospital after being bitten by a deadly snake at a school.

Paramedics were called to Heatley Secondary College at about 8am on Monday following reports a man had been bitten by an unidentified snake.

Jamie Chapel from Chapel Pest Control attended the school, but unfortunately the snake could not be found.

‘(The man) was bitten on the arm, first aid was applied and the ambulance was called,’ Mr Chapel told the Townsville Bulletin.

‘He’s done the right thing and gone straight to hospital.’

Mr Chapel said the area where the bite occurred has been cordoned off.

‘Kids will be kept away from the area for the time being,’ he said.

The man, 54, was transported to Townsville Hospital in a stable condition.
