Steve ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Steve ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame more than a decade after his shock death.

Irwin’s wife Terri, daughter Bindi and son Robert attended the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard along with numerous celebrities and fans.

Bindi teared up as she spoke about her father, telling the crowd he would have loved to have been at the ceremony.

Irwin’s ‘best mate’ and director of Australia Zoo and Wildlife Warriors, Wes Mannion, was co-master of ceremonies.

The star is located near the famed intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine St, close to the historic Capitol Records building.

Irwin’s star is also in good company with neighbouring stars belonging to Humphrey Bogart, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Johnny Cash, Jayne Mansfield, Ernest Borgnine, Dorothy Lamour, Kim Novak and Mariska Hargitay.

It is the 2635th star to be placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Curtis Stone, Rove McManus and Beau Bridges were among the guests.

Irwin, 44, died on September 4, 2006 while filming on the Great Barrier Reef near Port Douglas when a stingray struck him with a barb to the heart.

On May 5, wildlife warriors from across the world will attend the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Beverly Hills to celebrate his life and legacy.
