Sue Radford gushes over new grandson Chester and brushes over spending criticism

The mother of Britain’s biggest family Sue Radford has hit back at trolls who criticise her spending.

Sue, 46, and her husband Noel, who live with 18 of their 22 children in a 10-bedroom house in Morecambe, Lancashire, balance running a successful bakery with media work and raising their children.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Sue, has revealed she is looking to buy a new home to accomodate her large brood, after ‘growing out of’ their current property, but the move may well provoke more criticism.

In November, Sue was targeted by a troll for buying one of her daughters a £749 Emma mattress, with one critic writing: ‘Disgusting waste of money, you should remember where you came from and start giving back instead of flaunting your wealth.’

Sue told FEMAIL: ‘At the end of the day, it’s our money.

‘We work really hard for what we have and if we want to spend it on whatever we want to spend it on, we will.

‘I don’t really think it’s anybody’s business what anybody chooses to spend their money on when it’s their money and they’ve worked for that money.’

Sue admitted that  balancing Noel’s pie business with family life can be a challenge, but the coupld feel ‘very lucky to have our own business and that’s doing very, very well’.

She said: ‘We’re lucky and thankful that during Covid we’ve been doing very well with the business and it’s just grown massively over the last few years.

‘We’ve been very lucky in that respect. Sometimes it does get a bit much, but at the end of the day, you just have to get on with it, don’t you.’

Last week, the stay-at-home mother was criticised for saying her husband could hardly get away for even a few hours, in spite of the fact the family have enjoyed nine holidays in the past year.

‘We chose to be self-employed, obviously when you’re self-employed, you have to make sacrifices,’ she said.

‘With work being as busy as it is at the moment, it means we cannot really take any time off, But as I said, we’re lucky that we do have a very busy business,’ she said.

Sue also shared her joy after her daughter Millie welcomed her second child in February.

Millie, 20, who is the seventh eldest of the 22 Radford kids and mother of two-year-old Ophelia, gave birth to Chester on February 20.

With this new addition, Sue and Noel share eight grandchildren along with Chester – Daisy, nine, Ayprill, seven and Leo Broadley, six, Maisie, four, and Jacob Radford, two, Ophelia Radford, one, and Nicholas Radford, who was born in September.

They also have four step-grandchildren, meaning Chester is their 12th grandchild.

‘Welcoming little Chester into the family has just been amazing,’ she said.

‘He’s such a little dream, he’s so good. Ophelia is such a fantastic big sister for him. She’s always giving him kisses, and she’s lovely, it’s been really, really nice,’ she added.

And while Chester and Ophelia are currently staying with Sue and Noel in Morecambe, Sue said Millie will soon be moving in with her partner.

Sue and her family have gained popularity appearing on Channel 5’s 22 Kids and Counting, and the busy mother said fans will soon be able to enjoy two more episodes of the show’s latest series.

She added the family’s latest addition, Chester, will make a special appearance in one of the upcoming episodes as well.

Chester won’t stay the latest Radford baby for too long, though. Millie’s sister Chloe, 21, is set to welcome her first child this year.

Sue and the Radford family have recently teamed up with EE to launch its House of Fibre, a house powered fully by EE’s Full Fibre broadband.
