A luxurious Sydney harbourside mansion once owned by advertising icon John Singleton has been listed on the market for the eye watering sum of $85million.

The extravagant property is located in the ritzy suburb of Rose Bay, and if it sells for its listed price it will become one of the most expensive homes ever sold in Australia.

It is located on a 3000sqm block and distinguishes itself from neighbouring mansions through its unique architecture, as it is shaped like the letter A.

The exquisite estate boasts a wide variety of attractive features, including a tennis court, large swimming pool and breathtaking harbourside views.

The lavish property is perfect for families and features an incredible combination of cutting-edge architecture and traditional trappings, such as stone walls and paved walkways.

Singleton bought the property in 1976 for $418,0000 – equivalent to $3.2million in today’s dollars – and sold it three years later for over double what he paid for it.

The property is currently owned by Adrienne Dan – the wife of famous neurosurgeon Noel Dan – and has undergone significant renovations and if it sells for the listed price it will be the fourth most expensive home ever sold in Sydney.

It comes amid reports Singleton is offloading his horse racing empire as well as his Central Coast home to move to the beach.

Singleton, 81, is putting his $100million empire up for sale after revealing the promise he made himself regarding his exit from the sport.

‘I feel sorry for those old blokes at the races looking grumpy,’ Singleton told News Corp. ‘I always said I would sell up when I have been doing this for 50 years.’

Singleton is selling more than 100 or his horses at his Strawberry Hill Stud, with mares, foals, yearlings and racehorses.

He is also putting his Mount White home on the market and the sales are expected to earn a combined sum of $100million.

His racing career has seen him own outstanding horses including More Joyous, Gypsy Kingdom and Strawberry Road.

Singleton is planning to ‘finish up on a beach’ and is looking for an uncrowded spot in Australia.

He initially intended to spend six months of the year in Hawaii, but ended up selling his $9.3million luxury beach home in February 2022 as he missed his homeland.
