Blue Mountains trains have stopped between Valley Heights and Penrith, with commuters urged to have patience as there are large gaps in bus services from Springwood to Katoomba.

Western Line trains are not running between St Marys and Penrith due to the incident, with roughly eight buses replacing the service.

A Sydney Trains spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that services would take hours to return to normal due to the nature of the incident.
