Each of the comments received thousands of likes from agreeing fans of the long-running MTV series.
Teen Mom personality Cory Wharton, who appears on the show with ex Cheyenne Floyd also joined the conversation.
Siding with Shirley, he wrote: ‘GARY is the Truth love that dude ✊.’
In a now-deleted post on X, another star on the reality show, Briana DeJesus, added ‘I know I’ll probably get dragged or get a phone call but after watching a certain scene … I don’t support talking down on ur kids or even calling them names. Do better!’
And Teen Mom vet Jenelle Evans, known for her questionable parenting, even had something to say.
She re-shared Briana’s post, and added, ‘Girrrrrl I just watched.’
In 2011, Portwood lost custody of Leah after fighting with Gary and subsequently getting arrested the previous year.
Although a source shared with Us Weekly in January that the exes now co-parent Leah ‘amicably,’ the latest installment of the show suggested otherwise.

Per Us Weekly, the reality television star is ‘really, really happy’ with her new man.
An insider told the publication that the proposal happened ‘within the last two weeks.’
It was noted that Amber’s engagement ring was created using ‘a family stone that was reset into a new ring.’
And the future husband and wife have ‘been in couple’s therapy and talk about everything,’ the source added.
