TELEVISION THAT HAS WITHSTOOD THE TEST OF TIME

The 90’s were truly an amazing time since that is when I first fell in love and had my first kiss giving me the memories on a lifetime. The 90’s did leave us with a lot more than my silly teenage memories, in fact, some of the best music was composed in the 90’s alongside the television shows. These television shows have withstood the test of time and can still be watched by future generation and are in fact everlasting works of art. I mean you could still watch on the deals available at https://localcabledeals.com and still have a good time but it won’t be an amazing as watching the shows produced before the turn of the century.

The likes of Netflix and Hulu have started to acquire the rights to televisions shows which once could only be enjoyed on a Friday night or were only available on VHS gift sets. Mind you that DVR’s really weren’t readily available during the 90’s. It can be a daunting task figuring out what to watch with due to the vast library of content available on the various streaming services available. The lovely thing about watching shows that haven’t been available since they went off air is that they are now available in a high definition which make it as though you’re watching it for the first time ever.

The following is a countdown of must watch video entertainment from the 90’s that can be enjoyed which were truly the best of its time.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Many have tried and many has failed to recreate the success that hit television show F.R.I.E.N.D.S was and still is today. The show was watched by millions as it aired on NBC and billions around the world, it is truly an evergreen series that is enjoyed by audience of all ages. The chemistry between the actors left the audience wanting more and falling in love with all the characters. Before the only way to watch friends was for you to go out and buy the DVD gift set which contained all 10 season or a randomly catch in on T.V. as you were flipping through the channels. Ever since the series made its debut on Netflix it has once again gained popularity and has become the most watch episodic show on Netflix that has viewers coming back to re-watch episodes with friends and family. The show originally aired from 1994 to 2004.

TWIN PEAKS

Imagine a television show that breaks all the rules by fusing multiple genres such as horror, melodrama, supernatural, suspense, surrealist, and absurdity into a singular show knows as Twin Peaks. On the surface, the series tells about an FBI agent’s investigation into a murder in a small town in the state of Washington. However, underneath the surface lurks a cult classic that leads to conversation about good versus evil and everything else in-between. The series is dubbed as a cult classic and lost its steam halfway through its second season once the murder was solved. The show lasted for a total of 2 season after which it was canceled. The show originally aired from 1990-1991 and even managed to gets its own spinoff move in 1002 titled: Twin Peaks: Fire walks with me. As with all cult classic the public wanted another season and they were given just that in 2017 as Showtime breathed new life into the series bringing back most of the original cast for what seemed like its final run, or is their more to come?

SEINFELD

Seinfeld is a cultural juggernaut and yet a show about nothing. Seinfeld stared standup comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his very eccentric yet lovable close circle of friends just living their lives the best they could. The best thing about the show apart from Jerry Seinfeld is Kramer and the personality that he was able to bring to life. Seinfeld lead to inspiring dozens of other series of people just living their lives which never have been able to obtain the same pop cultural success that Seinfeld achieved. The show aired from 1989 to 1998.

FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR

You will be hard pressed to find anyone between the ages of 18-40 that doesn’t know the lyrics to the iconic theme song. The show starred and made Will Smith to the iconic actor he is today for without out it we would have all the Hollywood blockbusters that Will Smith has started in. The television series tells the story of a fictional Will who move from Philadelphia to Bel Air, California to live with his uncle. Uncle Phil who was played by James Avery has come to be known as on the best dad roles ever depicted on television. The show is classic example of another cultural staple since it did give us The Carlton, a loveable dance acted out by his dorky and nerdy cousin. The show aired from 1990-1996.

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Buffy The Vampire Slayer is and will forever be the first supernatural show to gain popularity and a large fan base more than 2 decade since it premiered. The show followed a coming to age teenage vampire slayer who was gifted with superhuman strength which was played by Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy. The show is eerily similar to the Scooby Doo and his gang of mystery solving cohorts since Buffy did have her own group of friends. The formula did change since the vampires and demons were actually monsters as compared to Scooby Doo. The show has been cemented as the most badass teenager show to ever grace your television screens and is a true pop cultural phenomenon. For without Buffy the Vampire Slayer we wouldn’t have all the supernatural shows that are currently airing such as Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries.

It was recently made public that Buffy the Vampire Slayer would be getting rebooted to cater to the current generation. The reboot has been penned by Monica Owusu-Breen and is set to produce by Joss Weldon who is the original creator for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The show originally aired from 1996-2003.

BOY MEETS WORLD

There are very few shows that teach us life lesson and even fewer shows that managed to retain their star cast throughout the year allowing viewers to watch them grow from young children to adults. The series stars Ben Savage in the role of Corey Matthews and the various life issues that one would face from middle school to high school and then college alongside his friends and family. The educators that we come across during our education start and end in the classroom except for when they are your next door neighbor as is the case of Mr. Fenny. The show may have been all about Core Matthews however in his time for need and genuine life advice he could always turn to Mr. Fenny even though he was a member of a neutral family. Sometimes the best advice comes from someone who is not a part of your family. Boy Meets World originally aired from 1993 to 2000 and a was a staple of TGIF commonly known as Thank God It’s Friday and the shows that aired on the ABC network on Friday evenings.

After a decade of the show ending a reboot via the Disney Channel, titled Girls Meets World introduced to a female version Corey Matthews. In fact, a majority of the main cast and crew is a part of Boy Meets World made it into Girl Meets World. Cory and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) teen daughter takes on the role of the young girl who’s getting ready to meet the world and the life lessons that come with it. Girls Meets World only had 3 seasons which aired from 2014-2017.
