A witness said: ‘I was leaving a side street onto a 40mph Dual Carriageway in my little Citroen C1 when this car, thought to be travelling in excess of 70mph, flew across sideways in front of me, only missing my car by a few feet or a couple of seconds.

‘No one was injured in the end, however, the car was written off.’
