The Bachelorette vet Gabby Windey reveals she has been dating a woman for the last ‘couple’ of months as she comes out: ‘I always just want to live my truth’

The Bachelor vet Gabby Windey has revealed she is dating a woman.

The reality TV star, 32, said she has been ‘seeing’ her new girlfriend for the last ‘couple months’ during an appearance on The View.

Windey rose to fame as a contestant vying for Clayton Echard’s heart on The Bachelor before becoming The Bachelorette herself and getting briefly engaged to Erich Schwer.  

‘I always just want to live my truth, and my story,’ she explained. ‘And I have been seeing someone for a couple months, and I’ve been keeping it a little more private because it is a bigger story and a bigger conversation, because I’m dating a girl!’

Windey admitted she didn’t see her new relationship coming as she described what led to her finding love with her new girlfriend.  

‘Yes, so I think like just after wrapping up kind of my busy couple of years with Dancing With The Stars and Bachelor, Bachelorette, I had been traveling, I was in a bubble, trying to make the relationship work after Bachelorette and I finally had time to settle in L.A.,’ she explained. 

‘And I think it was always a whisper in me that got louder and louder and I didn’t really know to pay attention to it. I think, you know, when this happens like there’s some shame obviously surrounding it, so I think I had to like a little bit navigate through the shame like, what is it? Where is it coming from? But ultimately like I said, like I always just want to kind of do me, do what I want, figure it out later. 

‘Is it girls now? That’s it?’ Joy Behar asked.

‘I think so. I think it’s just like my girl. She’s the best,’ Gabby replied. 

Gabby said she was compelled to share her truth because she wanted to be completely transparent with fans. 

‘People know me and kind of related to me on the previous shows I’ve been on and I appreciate them. Like, literally Dancing With The Stars is fan and vote based so it was so tangible to see how many people cared about me. They said the voters were closer than ever. I don’t know if it’s a lie but I take it and run with it, first runner-up. 

‘But knowing how people cared, I just want to be honest. I don’t want to live and not be living my full truth. I don’t want to do it to myself, I don’t want to do it to my girlfriend, I don’t want to do it to other people who really care about me and feel like they know me.’

Gabby also revealed her former fiance Erich is unaware of her new romance. 

‘He doesn’t know,’ she said.
