The crazy moment a backpacker jumps on top of a 650kg saltwater crocodile in Australia’s Top End

Astonishing footage has emerged of a man brazenly feeding a hungry saltwater crocodile before jumping on its back for a selfie.

The man, dubbed the ‘Danish Crocodile Dundee’, was filmed enticing the monster 650kg predator with the remains of a dead wallaby before straddling it.

Niels Jensen, 22, was travelling through the Top End when he came across the mighty 4.7metre beast and decided to put his crocodile-taming skills to the test.

The video shows a man dragging a wallaby carcass across the ground and occasionally swinging the animal in the air.

A hungry croc then edged closer and closer towards the man holding the bait.

The distance between the man and reptile grew narrower and narrower until the man threw the dead animal into the croc’s mouth.

As the beast began to devour its meal, the man walked around the reptile towards its rear before gently straddling its enormous tail.

The man then appeared to give the saltwater crocodile a stroke on the right hand side of its belly before he climbing off.

A man’s voice could then be heard saying, ‘sit back on him you ****. You gotta give me a thumbs up, you know.’

Seemingly unafraid, the man then climbed back on top of the crocodile and gave the camera a thumbs up, and a woman can be heard laughing.

The other man said, ‘Alright, get off him before you get eaten,’ and the woman laughed again.

Mr Jensen, a wildlife management graduate from Vinderslev, Viborg in Denmark, admitted he was ‘dicing with death during the encounter’.

He said after he posted the video online, Parks and Wildlife Commission NT told him he was ‘asking for trouble’.

Mr Jensen said despite being dangerous, the thrill alone was worth it.
