The Simpsons predicts the future again! Episode from 30 years ago featured major musical collaboration that’s now happening in real life

The Simpsons has shown again they must have a crystal ball to predict future events, this time anticipating a special performance almost 30 years before the collab was first announced.

In the penultimate episode of hit American sitcom The Simpsons’ seventh season that aired back in 1996, Californian rap group Cypress Hill announced a gig with the London Symphony Orchestra.

In the episode, Homerpalooza, Homer takes his family to rock festival Hullabalooza, a play on Lollapalooza, in a bid to prove his street cred to them.

The family is allowed backstage by security where they witness a magical but unusual collab start between Cypress Hill and the London Symphony Orchestra.

This summer, the legendary rap trio really is sharing the stage with the London Symphony Orchestra, performing a special rendition of their album Black Sunday.

Another Simpsons prediction has come true almost 30 years later as Cypress Hill join forces with London Symphony Orchestra. The joke appeared in this episode: Homerpalooza in 1996

During the episode of The Simpsons, a puzzled coordinator backstage asked: ‘Hello bands, who is playing with the London Symphony Orchestra?’

Nobody responded, much to his annoyance and he continued: ‘Come on people, somebody ordered the London Symphony Orchestra, possibly while high!’

He then accused the hip hop group of ordering the musicians to play with them, saying: ‘Cypress Hill, I’m looking in your direction’.

The panicked California collective then whispered to each other: ‘Hey man did we order an orchestra? What’s up with this orchestra, where’d this orchestra come from?’

A member of the trio continued: ‘No one told me about this man. We gotta do something,’ before replying to the coordinator: ‘Yeah, yeah, we think we did.’

Turning to the orchestra, who were all suited and booted in black tuxedos he asked: ‘Do you know Insane in the Brain?’

The orchestra’s violinist admitted: ‘We mostly know classical…but we could give it a shot.’

Their collaboration impressed Marge who beamed: ‘Now this, I like’.

After the mid-90s episode, fans of the popular rap group hoped that the on-screen joke would one day become reality and almost three decades later they have confirmed this.

Cypress Hill said: ‘We are thrilled to be performing with the London Symphony Orchestra in such a prestigious venue as the Royal Albert Hall. It’s a dream come true, a collaboration only The Simpsons could have predicted.’

The group are due to play with the orchestra on July 10 at the Royal Albert Hall.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on March 27, where fans can watch the California collective play songs from their 90s album Black Sunday, amongst other hits.

Kathryn McDowell DBE, the LSO’s Managing Director said: ‘After years of social media teasing it, many fans may have started to believe it would only be a pipedream – but the LSO is delighted to finally be joining Cypress Hill on stage and in person, and look forward to creating an unforgettable musical moment!

‘Many thanks to the creators of The Simpsons for the idea and to AEG Artistic and PolyArts for making it all happen’.
