One thing there’s never a shortage of in the kitchen is clutter.

But now a TikTok influencer has come up with a handy space-saving hack to give you a little more breathing room.

Among the various things TikTokers delight in telling us we’ve all been doing wrong, it seems there is a new gadget we can put to better use. This time it’s the unassuming kitchen roll holder. 

Most of us place it standing upright on the counter-top , with the metal pole facing skywards, but according to @cippirippicippi this is a mistake.

You could be taking up more space than necessary with that approach – especially if you have a small or crowded kitchen.

Instead, suggests the TikToker, we could be sliding the holder onto a shelf, so the sheets of kitchen roll can be pulled down, and more easily.

Users have wowed by the after the TikTok user posted her video showing how to properly use the metal holder, with many proclaiming the hack to be ‘life changing.’ 

The video, with more than 778,000 likes, begins with the user taking the metal paper towel holder they have on the counter, with the towels already on it, and holding it on its side.

With the side that has nothing on it, they slip it into one of the doorless kitchen cabinets.

And it fits very snugly as they are able to rip off sheets from the towels much easily.

The accompanying voiceover to the video says: ‘I was today year’s old when I realised how this is supposed to work.’

Social media users have been left impressed with this hack, with nearly 100,000 saving down the post, and 68,000 sharing it on with others.

One person commended beneath the TikTok video: ‘Clever solution.’

However, others were said that the hack will not work if you have doors on your cabinet, as one user put: ‘Not if you having cabinet doors.’

Another also questioned: ‘How you gonna close cupboard doors?’ 

And one more said: ‘Not if you have doors on your cupboards like most houses.’ 

Meanwhile, one cheeky TikTok user commented: ‘But the roll is wrong, paper on the outside not underside.’
