Those secret David Bailey shots that no one has ever seen

David Bailey has come to define the Swinging Sixties with his iconic black and white images of pop stars, models, politicians and royalty.

And now the snapper is to make waves all over again with his first book of fashion photographs dedicated to the 1980s, which will include many unseen images of the supermodels of the day.

‘It’s my first book of my fashion photographs,’ he tells me. ‘I don’t know why I haven’t done one before, but it’s taken a while to get this one together.’

Bailey and his team have been sifting through dozens of boxes of negatives and contact sheets stored at his London studio and at his two warehouses in the West Country where he has a home.

‘I’m chronicling the fashions of the decade,’ he explains.

‘I haven’t decided on a title yet but the book will include Jerry Hall, Christy Turlington, [ex-wife] Marie Helvin, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and my [fourth] wife Catherine Bailey (nee Dyer).’

The rough-talking East Ender is renowned for his insatiable appetite for the opposite sex.

Despite his four marriages and numerous girlfriends, he is still in touch and remains friends with all of them. ‘I get on with all my ex-wives,’ the 83-year-old snapper insists.

Marriage to his first wife, typist Rosemary Bramble, lasted five years ending in 1964. He then married the French actress Catherine Deneuve in 1965, which ended in 1972.

Then he wed American model Marie Helvin in 1975, which lasted ten years. Bailey has clocked up 35 years of marriage, so far, with model Catherine, who at 59 is 24 years his junior.

They met when she was just 19, on a fashion shoot for Italian Vogue on the Isle of Skye, and they have three children.

‘Catherine gets on with my ex-wives and girlfriends, too,’ Bailey adds. ‘If someone who lives with someone for more than ten months and then spends the rest of their lives hating that person, there is something wrong.’

His first muse, Jean Shrimpton, reflected last year in his autobiography Look Again: ‘He could come on strong, a bit, at times… He’d be in trouble today. But nobody objected. He was very fancied by everybody.’

Looks like Emilia’s passion is in flower

Silent Witness star Emilia Fox, who split from her partner, talent manager Luc Chaudhary, last year, is busy channelling her passions elsewhere.

The 46-year-old scion of the acting dynasty — which includes her father, Edward, and cousin, Laurence — shared a picture of herself hauling pink dahlias and white cosmos from the boot of her car outside her West London home.

Emilia, who wore a £200 floral top to match, loves flowers so much that she named her ten-year-old daughter Rose.

‘I’ve always felt that wherever you go, if you’ve got flowers, it will feel like home,’ she says.

The Pursuit Of Love star Lily James, who was snapped smooching with her co-star Dominic West last year, admits there are similarities between her and her onscreen character, the free-spirited Linda Radlett.

‘I relate to her passion and her open heart,’ she says. ‘I think people want to be more like Linda. I think she would have probably become a groupie and gone to parties with Mick Jagger.’

Modfather Paul Weller’s musician daughter Leah, who sang their co-written single, Shades Of Blue, on The Jonathan Ross Show last weekend, admits that her performance anxiety is so bad that she hides in the bathroom before going on stage.

‘I tried a range of therapies, but I find that meditation helps me to manage my anxiety better,’ says the 28-year-old, whose mother is The Style Council singer, Dee C Lee.

‘I also tend to isolate myself a little before performances. I’ll go and sit in the corner of a bathroom to focus.’

‘Royal yacht’ plan does not amuse Queen

Boris Johnson’s backing for a new national flagship named after Prince Philip will cut no ice with the Queen if it is deemed in any way to be a ‘royal yacht’ to replace her beloved Britannia.

The clamour for a state yacht to engage post-Brexit business opportunities is gaining momentum, but the concept is not wholeheartedly embraced by the monarch.

Her response was described as ‘lukewarm’ in a conversation with late car parking tycoon Sir Donald Gosling, who had offered £20million of his personal fortune towards building a new vessel.

A friend of Sir Don recalls: ‘HM said the last thing she wanted was to be seen as ‘angling’ for something that detractors could claim was just another royal bauble.

‘And although Philip had been initially keen on the idea of a ‘floating embassy’ which could be used to provide training and apprenticeships, he said the subject had just become the inevitable political football.’

So who’s this walking all over Sir Tim?

Oscar-winning lyricist Sir Tim Rice has clearly left things on good terms with his erstwhile lover, Amanda Eliasch.

When the socialite, 60, paid a visit to the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, she couldn’t resist bowing down to his star.

‘I curtsy to you my friend, Sir Tim Rice,’ she captioned the picture online. ‘I love this area because you come across your friends, heroes and superstars.’

The songwriter’s star — which then became the 2,375th — was unveiled in 2008, one year after he struck up a romance with Amanda, ex-wife of Tory billionaire donor Johan Eliasch.

Award-winning Doctor Who star Sharon D. Clarke has accused BBC make-up artists of being hostile to black actors.

‘It does not seem such a big issue, but it’s massive when you walk in and somebody doesn’t know how to deal with your hair, looks at you in horror or immediately comes at you with a neon palette and wants to fling yellows and pinks on your eyes,’ she says.

‘It’s just, like, ‘Hang on!’
