Three bystanders help rescue a man with stab wounds from roof of burning restaurant in Sydney’s east

  • A man with stab wounds has been rescued from the roof of a burning restaurant
  • The fire broke out at the premises on Crown Street just after 11am on Thursday
  • Paramedics treated the man for suspected stab wounds and fire-related injuries 

Three men have rescued a man with stab wounds from the roof of a burning restaurant in Sydney’s Surry Hills. 

The fire broke out at the premises on Crown Street just after 11am on Thursday. 

A man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for suspected stab wounds and fire-related injuries before being taken to hospital.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries.

Road closures are in place on Crown Street, between Foveaux and Cleveland Streets, which are expected to impact on some bus services and local traffic.

Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW are working to extinguish the fire. 

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
