BBC news presenter Tina Daheley has confirmed she is expecting her first child with fiancé Kane Williams-Smith. 

Breaking the news with Instagram followers on Monday, the 39-year old shared a photo of her growing baby bump while admitting she is over five months pregnant. 

Captioning the post, she wrote: ‘Some exciting news to share! Beyond thrilled to be welcoming a new addition to our family in Spring 2021. Thank you @bbcradio2 family for all your lovely messages this morning.’

Tina confirmed her engagement to Kane in January 2018 by sharing a photo of her sparking ring with the accompanying caption: ‘07.01.18 Making plans for the rest of our lives.’  

While the presenter traditionally  keeps her private life away from social media, Kane occasionally features in sporadic posts during their various trips away. 

After reading the news on the Radio 1 breakfast show for several years, Tina covered events such as the pre-election debate and fronted her first Panorama programme – about the Manchester bombing. 

She has since become a regular fixture on the BBC breakfast sofa alongside the likes of Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty.

Speaking in 2018, the presenter told Harper’s Bazaar she ‘worked ridiculously hard’ to get where she is after her parents told her she’d have to try even harder than her white contemporaries.

‘I was doing the news on BBC Three, finishing at midnight and then coming in to do breakfast, which comes back to what my parents said about having to work two or three times as hard,’ she explained.
