Treat Williams’ family is remembering him seven months after his tragic death.
The late actor’s wife, Pam Van Sant, and their two children, Gill and Ellie, are still processing the loss but said they are remembering the ‘beautiful legacy’ he left behind.
In an interview with People published on Wednesday, his family spoke about how they would have celebrated his 72nd birthday with him last month.
The Everwood star passed away at the age of 71 on June 12, 2023 after a motorcycle accident in Dorset, Virginia.
His wife and children admitted that when it happened they were blindsided and are still ‘grappling’ with the fact that he is ‘really gone’.

‘It just feels like such a hole in our family and the fabric of the world,’ Pam, 68, told the outlet. ‘The whole atmosphere feels different.’
‘I think because of the suddenness of it, there was absolutely no preparation, so I’m still grappling with the fact that it happened and that he’s really gone,’ she added.
Previously, Treat and Pam met in 1987 when she was working as a waitress at New York City’s now-closed Texarkana restaurant.
‘He was completely smitten with me and asked me to marry him two weeks later,’ she recalled. ‘It was a magical meeting, meant to be.’
The following year, the pair tied the knot and moved to Vermont together.
They welcomed their son Gill in 1992 and their daughter Ellie in 1998.
Both of their children revealed that their father was the inspiration for them to become artists.
Ellie, now 26, is pursuing her own acting career in Los Angeles while Gill, 31, has become a musician and is working on his debut album.

Gill admitted it is strange and difficult to accept that his father is ‘actually gone’.
‘But at the same time, he’s left behind this beautiful legacy,’ he said.
‘I think that’s something that you’re very lucky if your parent is an artist — especially when [the artist] is as prolific as him because you do get to, in many ways, still be with them through that art.’
Sharing the sentiment, Ellie also shared her experience with watching their father act and being inspired by his artistry.
‘When I was four, I started going to set with my dad on Everwood, and I fell in love with the craft,’ she recalled. ‘You create a wonderful close-knit group of people, a family and wonderful friendships. It’s a beautiful thing.’
‘His family was the thing that he always said [he’d be remembered for],’ she added.
‘You guys are obviously his legacy,’ their mother and Treat’s wife said to Gill and Ellie. ‘He was just so proud of both of them.’
The late actor will posthumously star in FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans, which will premiere on January 31 on FX and streams the next day on Hulu.
