Two armed robbers ‘steal $250,000 from a New York casino after they burst in wearing surgical masks’

Two armed robbers are said to have stolen $250,000 from a New York casino on Saturday night after they burst in wearing surgical masks. 

The suspects, who were carrying guns, raided the Resorts World casino in Queens, The New York Daily News reports. 

They also stole a number of cell phones during the robbery, police said. 

It is not known how many people were targeted during the crime spree. DailyMail.com has contacted NYPD for comment.

Police were called to the casino, which opened in 2011, shortly before 11pm on Saturday night. 

There has been a surge in the number of people wearing surgical masks as the number of coronavirus cases explodes across the United States.  

New York state confirmed 13 new cases of coronavirus Saturday evening, taking the total number of residents infected to 89.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the latest spike in figures in what has been a shock day for New Yorkers, as the number of cases of the deadly disease more than doubled in the last 24 hours and a state of emergency was declared.
