Police are hunting for an Indian pervert who led a teenage girl away from her friends and exposed himself before driving off in his car.

The girl, 13, was playing with two of her friends on Albion Road in Box Hill, east of Melbourne, on Wednesday when she was allegedly approached by the man.

Police were told the man, aged in his late 30s, led the girl to a secluded area and showed her his penis.

She left the area and the man – who is described as being short and having a solid build with balding hair – fled to a suspected Honda Civic parked nearby.

Police claim the man was wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt with a purple pattern, jeans, and a belt.

The incident, which police have described as a ‘wilful and obscene exposure’, is now being investigated by the Box Hill Sexual Offence Child and Abuse team.

Investigators have released a computer generated image of a man that may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
