Watercolor blocks – an integral part of art

Watercolor blocks are an integral part if you want to express your artistry through art. As the name suggests, this is a paper that can be painted with watercolor. The word watercolor is derived from the Italian word and slightly adapted to Estonian. This is a technique in which water-soluble paint is usually applied in layers. The person who paints a watercolor painting is called a watercolorist. So-called brushes of different sizes are used as tools and are constantly immersed in water.

The quality of the paper is very important when painting. The paper quality must be high to ensure proper color coverage. Another concern with watercolor painting is the curling of the paper or the crease due to the large amount of water. It is always advisable to use high quality paper because saving a little money can easily be a waste of time and effort. Generally, the papers on sale in stores are all high quality, but you should check with the salesman about the above before purchasing. Higher quality papers stay wet long enough for the colors to disperse – and at the same time leave the colors vibrant and the pigment does not disappear. What is this product?

A watercolor block is a piece of paper intended for painting with watercolors, packed in several pieces. Traditionally, there are twenty papers in a block, but the blocks are available in different sizes. Generally, it is very convenient to have the papers in the block, because you do not have to worry about getting dirty or disappearing. It would also be very difficult to paint a high quality work if the paper served was damaged or broken. When choosing a block, you have to think about how much the paper will cost and how long it will last. Generally, a single block is long enough, but when trying new techniques or techniques, the paper consumption may be higher than expected because, for the first time, not everything may work out as planned.

Paper in album form

Alternatively, a watercolor album is available which is very similar to the previous product but is of a slightly higher quality block. Usually watercolor paper is cold pressed and completely acid free. The most common papers are generally white with a glued on both sides. Speaking of the surface, it is generally quite hard and resistant to erasure. Also, remember that the paper is stretch-proof regardless of the amount of water, and you don’t have to worry about anything happening with the painting. When choosing the right paper, you should make sure that the paper has the highest density – it shows the quality and strength of the material, which must be carefully considered when painting with watercolors.

Choosing the right paper

If you’ve done the art before, choosing the right paper is not difficult, though some watercolor pads are better and some are slightly lower quality. Before you start painting a large work, it is worth trying different papers and finding the right one for you. At times, some papers that are suitable for others may not be suitable for some artists – that’s why it’s important to try and find out, by trial and error, the paper that exactly matches what you want.
