Ways To Keep Both Your Mind & Body Boosted During Lockdown

Some folks often think that the concept of health regards just that of your body’s. But health is merely one side of the coin, with the coin being a metaphor for you.

So what this means is that your body makes up only half of you, the other half, the ‘you’ portion lies in mind. And just like your body, your mind’s health is known to deteriorate or get better, depending on what it’s facing.

For instance, if you are nurtured by the company that surrounds you, and receive positive energy from most aspects in life, then you will be bound to positive things, as your mind will be well-nourished from all the positivity.

And during times of distress, such as the isolation you are currently in, your mental health may be stressed out, as most of us are social to some extent, and even if not, we all go out. So this rapid worsening series of corona events, coupled with boredom, our mind may start getting anxious and restless.

There are things you can do, and there are things you can buy online, so you can bring yourself back to sanity by implementing certain positive habits into your lifestyle. There are many things you can do to keep both your mind and your body healthy and strong, and I will mention them all below.

1. Try Light Therapy

Any light with infrared like property can penetrate deep into the body. So when you are applying light therapy over you, your brain will absorb it. Thus for the constant stress and specific neuro linked diseases can be prevented or managed through red light therapy, as it would boost our regeneration and healing capabilities. Also, many people have received benefits after using red light therapy for skin.

According to new research turning up, red light therapy can even help with traumatic brain injuries, and light therapy has plenty of more health benefits. It is also a great way to have an effective anti-aging routine in your place of residence. So, I would recommend ordering one.

2. Put Your Culinary Skills To The Test

There are so many great dishes out there for you to try. And I’m sure there are certain things you want to try out to see if you can cook better than those Michelin starred restaurants.

Pick a good recipe, see if you have the ingredients or not, if you don’t, then order them from online, and then prepare them into appropriate proportions, and follow the instructions. I recently made the Dalgona coffee and was surprised by how easy and time-friendly the recipe was.

I am a personal believer in “Food Can Conquer All.”

3. Exercise

We all know how exercise is one of the most efficient ways to maintain and live a healthy life. But did you know that exercise can work on your mind just as much as it does on the body?

Any form of physical exertion will lead your brain to release endorphin, which is our body’s very own painkiller, produced inside the body.

Working out is one of the best ways to exercise the mind and the body. Think of it like the yin and the yang. One can not exist without the other, so that is the case with mind-body connection as well.

If you are doing well in the body, then you will automatically be better than you would have been without a fit body. The vice versa applies to the mind as well in this regard. Stress or a burst of any strong emotion can lead someone to get a heart attack.

4. Pick Up A New Skill

At first, you may not feel like it, but there are so many ivy league colleges giving free online semesters, just enroll in one, something you would enjoy.

If you have any specific skill set in mind that you would like to master, now is the right time for it, and they might even be giving big, significant discounts, so go and level up.

It can even be something like martial arts that you always wanted to learn. I recently started following Taekwondo footages to help me learn a proper posture for side and high kicks. It took me less than a week. So the possibilities are limitless with quarantine time on your hands.

5. Indulge in Art & Media

I am sure there are plenty of movies, and tv shows out there you have been meaning to catch up with, so go for it.

If you are open to suggestions, gaming’s booming now, so you will find a whole lot of varieties. I am confident that you will be able to find something you will like, EVEN if you are not a gamer. There are online board games and chess matches you can compete in, not to mention those lifelike killer FPS games.

Reading can help the mind gain calm & composure, and it’s a serene way to kill time in a mentally healthy way.

6. Craft Necessities & Essentials

In this day and age, where the internet serves as a part of everyone’s everyday life, you can easily find DIY videos and articles to make all the things you need.

Just youtube it, that should be enough.

I had my cousin sew me an embroidered peace sign, and I made DIY softboxes for my photography.

It would be best if you can sync #4 with this one, and pick something that you can use to make new things.

Bottom Line

I know staying home like this can feel like it’s the end of the world, but I assure you, it’s just your explosive mind being upset with the lockdown. Just direct your mind to things that will add value to your time spent.

But our core focus should be to not lose ourselves in mindless indulgence because of this newfound lifestyle where time feels like it’s been put in excess into the system.

The world will be forever changed, and leveling up under these critical conditions will benefit you in various ways. Your efforts will not go to waste this way, and be sure to participate or at least suggest group calls to your friends and family, so you and your loved ones can spend time together.
