It’s tough to stand out from the crowd when trying to land any job.
But the extreme lengths some jobseekers go to to impress potential employers don’t always pay off.
Speaking to the anonymous secret sharing app Whisper, people from around the world confessed admitted to having lied on job applications – and revealed all about whether or not their dishonesty worked.
One person told how they had been promoted twice after landing a role using forged qualifications.
But despite the occasional happy ending, many others told how their deception ultimately got them fired – or even booted out at the interview stages.
