White House condemns Trump’s call to ‘TERMINATE’ Constitution after Elon Musk’s ‘Twitter exposé’

The Biden White House blasted Donald Trump on Saturday after he called for the ‘termination’ of the US Constitution.

On Sunday, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee said on Sunday that he ‘absolutely’ disavows Trump’s calls and suggested the explosive comments could have a negative impact on his 2024 presidential campaign.

The former president made the explosive statement in the early hours of Saturday after Elon Musk claimed to reveal proof that Twitter – which he recently acquired for $44 billion – worked in tandem with Democrats to tip the scales in the 2020 election.

It was centered around correspondences mainly between top employees at Twitter about the site’s suppression of the infamous New York Post story about Hunter Biden’s laptop that was published in October 2020.

Trump responded with a long tirade on his Truth Social app, calling for a complete overhaul of the United States electoral system and suspension of Constitutional rules.

Deputy White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates swiftly rebuked Trump in a searing statement: ‘Attacking the Constitution and all it stands for is anathema to the soul of our nation and should be universally condemned.’

‘You cannot only love America when you win,’ Bates said. ‘The American Constitution is a sacrosanct document that for over 200 years has guaranteed that freedom and the rule of law prevail in our great country.’

President Joe Biden’s White House condemned Donald Trump on Saturday for calling for the ‘termination’ of the US Constitution

‘The Constitution brings the American people together – regardless of party – and elected leaders swear to uphold it. It’s the ultimate monument to all of the Americans who have given their lives to defeat self-serving despots that abused their power and trampled on fundamental rights.’

House GOP Rep. Mike Turner told CBS News’ Face The Nation of Trump’s furious comments, ‘It’s certainly not consistent with the oath that we all take.’

‘I vehemently disagree with the statement Trump has made,’ he said.

Just before 8am on Saturday morning, Trump took to Truth Social to assert that Musk’s exposé, published by journalist Matt Taibbi, proved 2020 was ‘fraudulent’ and called to strip current election laws from the US Constitution.

‘So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION?’ the ex-president fumed.

‘A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great “Founders” did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections.’

Turner went a step further on Sunday and suggested it could hurt the former president as the 2024 election cycle gets underway – with Trump so far being the only GOP candidate to formally declare a campaign.

‘There is a political process that has to go forward before anybody is a frontrunner and anybody is even the candidate for the party,’ the House Intel Republican said.

‘And I believe, answering your question, that people certainly are going to take into consideration a statement like this as they evaluate a candidate.’

The Musk-dubbed ‘Twitter files’ show Twitter employees going back and forth trying to justify their censorship of the Hunter Biden story under the site’s hacked materials rules. It appears that many top officials at the platform were hesitant about whether Hunter Biden’s laptop was accessed through unscrupulous means.

Taibbi also provides screenshots showing Twitter employees complying with requests from the Biden campaign to take down certain links – a practice followed by both campaigns at the time.

Links sent by the Biden team allegedly included naked photos of Hunter Biden that would have been posted without his consent.

While Musk floated suggestions that Democrats could have aided in violating the First Amendment, in his reporting Taibbi points out that the Trump administration – in power at the time – made the same asks of Twitter.

Trump complained that the federal government should be investigating the alleged ‘corruption’ instead of the classified files he improperly took from the White House in January 2021, in another Truth Social post made just after midnight on Saturday.

Trump also called on his supporters to ‘take our country back’ in a late Saturday night post

‘Wow! That’s a really big story about Twitter and various forms of government Fraud including, specifically, Election Fraud. The same level of Fraud took place with the other Big Tech companies, if not even worse (if that’s possible?),’ Trump wrote.

‘We are living in a VERY CORRUPT COUNTRY &, AS THEY ARE SAYING ALL OVER THE INTERNET, “NOTHING WILL BE DONE ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT & FBI ARE TOTALLY CORRUPT.” But they’ll keep investigating “boxes” that were legally & openly taken from the W.H.’

In an even earlier post made just before 11pm on Friday night, Trump called on his supporters to ‘take our country back’ as he set off on his increasingly angry rant over the Musk Twitter files.

‘I am glad that everyone is now seeing the light on what I have been saying loud and clear for the last two years, that the 2020 Presidential Election was rigged and stolen by a combination of Democrats, Big Tech, “law enforcement,” and other bad actors,’ the former president wrote.

‘Sadly, we have become a corrupt Country, perhaps one of the most corrupt anywhere in the world. We MUST right this horrible wrong, and take our Country back!’
