Lloyd Klein proposed to Jocelyn Wildenstein in July 2017 after an on-and-off relationship with the Swiss socialite.

Klein has been a professional fashion designer since 1989, starting in Paris, France.

Since his first runway show in 1994, Klein has started his own label and moved to the United States.

He and Jocelyn are now preparing to film a documentary about her life, as she announced that she is ‘flat broke’.

Who is Lloyd Klein?

Lloyd Klein was born in Montreal, Canada, on February 15 1967, but raised in Paris.

In 1986 Klein went to study architecture, however, after being inspired by a Maison Givenchy runway fashion show, he discovered that fashion and design were his truer passion.

By 1989, he had opened his first studio, and was presenting his womenswear at the Chambre Syndicale, vying to get permission to create a Haute Couture house of his own.

Klein was quickly snapped up as the successor to the retiring Alix Grès and was Creative Director of Grès at just 25 years old.

In 1998 Klein moved back across the Atlantic with his new, self-titled fashion label to the United States. 

When did Jocelyn Wildenstein meet Lloyd Klein?

Jocelyn Wildenstein was first married in 1978 to art-dealing billionaire Alec Wildenstein, but the pair separated in 1999.

After reportedly walking in on her then-husband in bed with a 19-year-old Russian model, before he threatened Jocelyn with a gun, the marriage did not end amicably.

The $3.8 billion settlement was a world-record at the time, constituting a lump sum of $2.5bn, and $100 million each year for 13 years.

Alec’s family stopped paying the annual $100m in 2015 as good fortune ended between the parties, and Jocelyn filed for bankruptcy in 2018.

She began dating Klein in 2003, and embarked on a 13-year relationship which became renowned for its rumours of fiery rows.

The pair split after a fight in 2016, but Klein told People that he was ‘devastated’ by the way things had ended.

When did they get engaged?

The pair got engaged in July 2017 after rekindling their relationship.

Klein plotted to propose after felony assault charges against his then-girlfriend were dismissed.

The deal was sealed with a 32-carat diamond ring at the Versace Mansion in Miami.

Klein told DailyMail.com: ‘It was romantic, dramatic and wonderful. 

‘I showed Jocelyn the ring and she said “yes!” – she was in heaven.’

The pair are now filming an HBO documentary about Jocelyn’s life, which Klein described as ‘her reply’ to public scrutiny of her life and infamous plastic surgeries.

He told The Sunday Times: ‘Jocelyn wants to tell the story with her own voice.’  

And he added that he has bigger plans for his fiancée: ‘I want to have a movie series on Jocelyn’s life, and I would like to have Jennifer Lawrence as a young Jocelyn.’
