Wild moment woman in a hijab throws punches at a spectator as huge all-in brawl breaks out at junior soccer match

Violence has marred a junior soccer game in Sydney’s western suburbs after an all-in brawl spilled into the stands, with a female spectator repeatedly punching a man in the face.

Confronting video footage has captured the incident at the game between Granville Rage and Camden Tigers at Rydalmere Park, which involved both players and spectators.

In the video clip, one woman in a hijab can be seen throwing multiple punches at a man’s face before grabbing another woman in a headlock and slamming her into the seating.

Police, who are investigating the shocking incident, believe a soccer player left the field to attack a man in the crowd – who had to be later taken to Westmead Hospital. 

NSW police have released a statement appealing to witnesses to come forward and provide more information about the incident.

‘Officers from Ryde Police Area Command are investigating after a brawl in Sydney’s northwest over the weekend,’ the statement read.

‘About 3pm on Saturday 5 August 2023, two groups were playing a soccer match at an oval on Park Road, Rydalmere, when an on-field fight broke out.

‘Police have been told a player left the field and approached a spectator before assaulting a 42-year-old man who sustained an injury to his wrist. The man was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

‘Players and spectators attempted to break up the fight while others became involved.

‘As police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, anyone who witnessed the incident or may have mobile phone vision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.’

Football NSW have told The Daily Telegraph  that they are aware of the incident and have a ‘zero-tolerance policy’ to violence.

‘Football NSW is aware of an incident that took place at a match on Saturday and has opened an investigation into the matter. No further comment will be made on the matter,’ a spokesman said.
