A savvy home cook has revealed her secret to creating perfectly soft cooked eggs – and it’s one that doesn’t require any hot water.

Sharing a photo of her cooked eggs along with toast soldiers to Facebook, the Australian woman said she’d used Kmart’s air fryer to create the delicious breakfast.

‘Perfect soft eggs. Preheat air fryer (AF) for two minutes. Cook eggs at 165 for six minutes. I used egg holders pictured (bought online). 

She declared the result of her efforts ‘beautiful.’

The handy kitchen cooking appliance, priced at $69, features a removable frying basket, overheat protection and adjustable temperature up to 200 degrees.

The air fryer works by circulating hot air around the food inside, much like hot oil surrounds food to cook it all the way through.

In this instance, hot air from the appliance was used to cook the eggs, although they needed to be placed in egg holders first to stop them rolling around.

The woman’s post to the Facebook group had others fascinated with how it was possible to use the gadget to cook soft eggs.

One person asked if the woman needed to make a tiny hole in the top and bottom of the egg before placing them in the air fryer to cook.

It’s understood doing this can assist with making it easier to peel eggs once they’re boiled.

The woman said no hole was needed to cook the eggs, although they needed to be placed in egg holders first.

Another person who had tried the trick said they’d not had to pre-heat their air fryer when cooking the eggs longer.

‘You get the same result for seven mins at 165 without preheating… That’s for two eggs,’ they wrote. 

It’s not the first time a benchtop cooking device has been used to make a delicious morning meal with a woman from New Zealand revealing how she’d slow-cooked the perfect English breakfast.

A photo showing her spread posted to Facebook revealed sausages, bacon, baked beans, mushrooms and hash browns arranged neatly in the pot.

The woman, named Ara, explained these were left to braise low temperature overnight.

‘Been meaning to try it for ages. Verdict: Best idea ever! This will be us every big breakfast morning. Thank you to whoever it was that discovered it,’ she captioned her post.

Ara also shared how she had used mugs to separate each element so her food ‘didn’t end up a big mash’.

For the mushroom sauce, she added garlic, butter and a ‘dash of cream’ to the mug.

‘In the morning, I put them on the stove top to thicken the sauce,’ she said.

While her sausages and bacon were crispy after the slow cook, she said found them sticking to the edges of the pot.

‘Next time I will try using baking paper to help keep them from sticking to the sides,’ she said.
