A makeup artist who struggled with adult acne has opened up about her skin troubles online, and explained what helped her cure it.

Kellee Kernohan, who is based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, started noticing spots appearing on her cheeks and chin two years ago. 

She now believes it was a combination of ‘depression, insecurity and a bad diet’ that saw her break out so extremely on her face.

‘I don’t even know who this person is to be completely honest with you… Change can happen,’ she wrote alongside images of her pimple-ridden face.

‘Not only did I feel horrendous externally but internally. I couldn’t even apply foundation over my cystic acne because I was in constant agony.’

Telling her 36,000 followers that she was never one to cover her skin in makeup at this time because she wanted it to ‘breathe’, she struggled being ‘barefaced in public’.

Kellee worked hard on addressing her mental and gut health because she felt as though they were at the root of why her skin was inflamed.
