A woman’s body has been found beside a Northern Territory highway, with police labelling her death as suspicious.

The body was found 50km from Darwin near the Arnhem Highway at Lambells Lagoon at about 9.30am on Sunday, according to police.

Police said the circumstances of the woman’s death are unclear.

The body has since been removed from the location and NT emergency services volunteers have begun line searches.
