World’s ‘sexiest athlete’ Alica Schmidt leaves fans swooning as she films herself running through the sea in a bikini in Baywatch-inspired video

Alicia Schmidt – known as the ‘world’s sexiest athlete’ – set pulses racing on Sunday as she ran through the sea in her bikini for a Baywatch-inspired video.

Alicia, 25, competes for Germany in 400m track events and is currently attending a training camp in South Africa, where she has also taken the time to enjoy the country’s picturesque beaches.

During a trip to Kogel Bay, she donned a stunning two-piece consisting of navy bottoms and a sequinned silver top.

Taking to Instagram, she filmed herself running in and out of the sea, saying it had given her ‘healing energy’.

The model athlete showed off her very toned figure – the result of many hours’ work training – as she ran through the gorgeous blue waters of the ocean.

Alica Schmidt – known as the world’s ‘sexiest athlete’ left fans swooning once more with snaps of her trip to the beach in South Africa

The clip, which began with her facing away from the camera and running into the ocean, showed her leaping and jumping amongst the waves, while her blonde locks were wet from the salty water.

After flaunting her figure in a series of Baywatch-style poses and jogging back to the camera, she added a white cover-up while posing for snaps on the golden sands.

The video left fans swooning online, as many rushed to compare her to a ‘Bond girl’, while others even said she was like the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite.

Alica’s beach day made for a very eventful trip to the seaside, as a brown baboon ended up stealing her lunch and munching on a packet of crisps she had brought as a snack.

In 2017, Australian magazine Busted Coverage described Alica as the world’s ‘sexiest athlete’, causing a huge increase in her followers on social media and attention from the press.

The athlete has a huge five million followers on Instagram, where she regularly posts pictures and clips of her preparing for races and track events.

She competes for her country in 400m events and was part of the German relay squad that travelled to the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 – though she did not compete.

Schmidt last month revealed how she rejected a huge sponsorship deal running up to ‘high six figures’ because she ‘didn’t feel comfortable’.

She is a representative of Hugo Boss but claimed last year her main salary comes from German sports foundation Sporthilfe, which pays her just £600 (€700) a month – and only because she competes for her national team, according to Bild.

But despite that modest base salary, Schmidt spoke out about turning down the lucrative endorsement from a ‘well known’ company, saying she has to be ‘100 per cent behind’ a brand before signing up to it.

She said: ‘Two months ago I received an offer from a well-known brand. But I wasn’t 100 per cent behind it. I don’t feel comfortable with that. That would have been in the mid to high six figures for a campaign.’

Schmidt has previously spoken about the struggles of an athlete to generate regular income, saying the money that she is paid for competing in competitions is not enough for her to live on.

‘In principle, I have to say that it is not easy for most German track and field athletes to make a living from sport,’ she told the German publication.

Despite making it to the pinnacle of her sport, Schmidt previously revealed in a video on TikTok that she hardly earns anything from athletics.

‘In principle, I have to say that it is not easy for most German track and field athletes to make a living from sport,’ she said.

‘If we are in the squad, i.e. in the national team, we receive €700 (£611) from Sporthilfe.’

Schmidt added that some athletes receive ‘a small sum’ from their clubs each month as well, but conceded ‘that’s usually not enough to make a living from’.

Competing at the highest level is the dream of every athlete, but Schmidt explained that this is not always rewarded financially.

In fact, she claimed athletes often have to pay extra when entering competitions ‘because you have travel and hotel costs that are not always covered’.

With athletes struggling to make a living exclusively from sport, Schmidt believes most of her peers have to study on the side or take on a part-time job to get by and her second source of income comes from her social media accounts.

Her posts on these social media platforms allow her bring in extra money, and she has expressed her gratitude for being able to build a following that can help her focus on her sporting career.

‘I am grateful that I earn my money with social media and can save myself another part-time job,’ she said.

Schmidt did not disclose how much money she receives through her presence on social media, but she is clearly someone with one eye on the future.
