Viewers of Worst House on the Street were less than impressed after a couple with a six-month-old baby spent £63,000 renovating their dated house – which people branded ‘awful’.
Kelly and Andrew from Bedfordshire spent £360,000 on their unusually laid-out XX bedroom house and set themselves a budget of £40,000 (with a further £10,000 contingency) to renovate the family home.
But after seeing the pastel paradise the couple had created during their 12 week project to do up the property, viewers were not impressed with their decorative choices and took to Twitter to critique them.

When Scarlette and Stuart first visited the property they described it as a ‘horror house’ that looked like it hadn’t been worked on since the 1960s
Speaking at the beginning of the episode Kelly said: ‘We knew we were going to have to compromise on the state of the house we were moving into because getting anything in the north Bedfordshire villages, it’s all very expensive.
‘So we were prepared to move into something that needed work and this place popped up.’
Reeling off a long list of things she wanted to tackle in the property, Kelly mentioned the odd layout of the house due to several extensions.
She added: ‘There’s not a single surface of wall area that doesn’t need something doing to it.’
As property expert siblings Scarlette and Stuart Douglas arrived at the house to give their top tips to the couple, Stuart compared it to a ‘horror house’.

Scarlette added: ‘It looks like nothing has been done to it since the 1960s.’
As they spoke to the couple about their plans, Kelly said she wanted ‘a bit of a remodel’ of the entire place, including moving bathrooms around altogether to create more space.
Stuart described the odd layout of the house, including a tiny kitchen and a huge utility room, as a ‘Tardis’ in which the couple could better utilise the space.
After spending 12 weeks renovating the house the couple managed to completely transform it – including painting the outside of the house and refitting the roof.
To save money during the renovation, Kelly, Andrew and their son Teddy decided to live in the house while the enormous project was going ahead – meaning they spent almost the entire time coping without a kitchen and even running water.
The couple took out a bathroom and replaced it with a larger hallway area, before adding in a new bathroom elsewhere in the house.
They decorated the house in pastel colours and nature prints, with a statement wall in the new bathroom. However, after the couple revealed they had gone over budget by £23,000, viewers didn’t think they had put their money to good use.
One person wrote: ‘Am I the only one that thinks it looks awful?’
Another joked: ‘Yep it’s still the worst.’

Other viewers were more specific with what they disliked about the new look of the house as one person said: ‘All the interiors are a fad,’ before adding, ‘don’t like pastels, can’t stand pink’.
And one person even spotted a future stumbling block the couple might face with their new kitchen – especially with their infant son around.
‘Those tiles on that [kitchen] island are going to be horrendous to clean if they use it for food prep. I’d cover them with glass or epoxy resin for a more food friendly surface,’ they wrote.
Despite viewers’ distaste with the house, Kelly and Andrew were thrilled with the new house and the property experts were impressed with their work.
Stuart said: ‘I think what they’ve achieved is nothing short of remarkable. I really am impressed.’
After buying the house for £360,000 and spending £63,000 on the renovation, Scarlette and Stuart revealed the property was now valued at £506,000 – meaning if the couple wanted to sell their house they could make an £83,000 profit.
Although Kelly and Andrew were keen to spend time living in the house as a family, they were delighted at the potential profit they could make if they decided to sell it.
‘I’m still in shock, but it’s brilliant,’ Andrew said.
