A manhunt is underway for a would-be assassins who opened fire on a Mercedes and a home that had sleeping children inside.

The home of a well-known crime family in Arncliffe was showered with bullets just before 2am on December 27 last year.

Two adults and two children aged two and three were sleeping inside and no one was injured in the targeted attack.

CCTV footage showed a white Mercedes believed to be behind the shooting, driving down Wollongong Road before turning on Done Street.

The driver is described as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, with a beard.

The second incident occurred around 10.15am on January 4 and saw a black matte Mercedes stopping at a T-intersection in Revesby and a grey AMG stopped behind it.

The matte Mercedes reversed into the car and lightly hit its front bumper before the driver jumped out and ran with a gun pointed at the vehicle.

The passenger of the black matte Mercedes also got out as the driver was still spraying the other with bullets before it escaped.

A 38-year-old man and two children, aged seven and nine, were not injured.

Police believe it was the same car that was used in both incidents, but was disguised.

‘We strongly suspect the vehicle is the same car and was wrapped with some kind of covering before the second offence,’ Deputy Superintendent Rob Critchlow said.

‘We can tell you for sure these are serious offenders with no regard for public safety.

‘They are happily run through the streets, fire guns at homes and cars that contain children.

‘We fear that someone innocent will die in this exchange of bullets.’
