Delores Amorino, 40 (pictured), and her daughter, Sarah, 17, face multiple charges including assault after abusing Delores’ mother over the volume of a football game on the radio
Authorities say a senior citizen’s daughter and granddaughter beat her and shaved her head because they thought she was listening to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ game too loudly on the radio.
State police told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Delores Amorino, 40, and her 17-year-old daughter, Sarah, turned down the TV volume when the unnamed, grandmother was watching Sunday’s preseason game in the Youngwood, Pennsylvania home they share.
The older woman, said to be in her 70s, then went into her bedroom, locked the door and turned on the radio so she could listen to the rest of the Steelers v. Atlanta Falcons game.
Police say Delores and Sarah broke through the door and assaulted the grandmother.
In a court document, a trooper said that the grandmother’s abuse likely began on Sunday and continued into Monday.
According to the trooper, the grandmother told him that Sarah hit her in the face with a metal-handled broom, while Delores twisted her arm and stomped on her foot on Sunday.
The woman was reportedly also hit in the chest and the back of the head with the broom.
Then, on Monday, Sarah allegedly shaved her grandmother’s head, using scissors and a shaver, before choking her with both her hands and a scarf. At one point, the trooper said, Sarah pulled on the scarf while it was tied around her grandmother’s neck and told her to, ‘come here puppy.’

Among the older woman’s injuries were a bruised and fat lip; bruising and swelling on her forearm, face and chest; bruising on her stomach, the backs of her lower legs and injury to her neck.
The trooper said in the court document that the grandmother was told that any efforts she made to try to leave the home to get help would result in her being beaten again. It is unclear how authorities managed to discover that the woman was being abused by her daughter and granddaughter.
Delores and Sarah were arraigned on Wednesday and are scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on September 1.
They have been charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, strangulation, terroristic threats, false imprisonment and harassment, among other charges.
Sarah is being charged as an adult, but is being held in a juvenile facility. Delores is in county jail. Both women have $200,000 bonds.
